Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak was awarded the' Arab-German Association' Medal of Sciences for 2007 in recognition of her efforts to spread out knowledge and science and promote scientific cooperation between Egypt and Germany.
Egyptian ambassador to Germnany Mohamed Al-Arabi said the award coincides with holding the so-called Egyptian-German year for sciences and technology for 2007.
The Egyptian-German year for sciences and technology aims to draw up strategic plans for long-term cooperation between the two countries in the fields of sciences, research and technology, he added.
Mrs. Mubarak was honored as she is considered one of the staunch supporters of children and youth education programmes in the Arab world, the diplomat said.
She was also honoured for her efforts to promote cultural and scientific ties between Egypt and Germany, as well as support for establishing the German University in Cairo, he added.
