It is impossible to ignore the huge tangible advantages in maximizing the use of the Internet as a knowledge gateway and global interconnection to spread tolerance and peace values, Mrs Suzanne Mubarak reiterated in her Speech to the conference.
The international community, she said carry out its responsibilities by providing legislations and support the efforts of organizations and other related bodies which are concerned to reach a healthy atmosphere that enable our fellow youth to use all available or could be made available to them in the future techniques.
This meeting, she pointed out , is an opportunity to begin a dialogue on the central issues and challenges as well as the responsibility that lies on our shoulders to achieve the best models for the peaceful use of the Internet incorporation with experts from all over the world to decide the best ways to follow and to make our dialogue a key step to launch a national and regional dialogue aiming at empowering young people to benefit from the available opportunities and protect them from dangers and risks, the Internet may represent.
The initiative aims to spread peace culture by using technology to promote understanding and dialogue between young people from different cultures through the use of information and communication technology as a new tool to promote our efforts in order to bridge understanding and communication between nations and peoples.
Mrs. Mubarak was pleased with many young leaders and their partners in the initiative of the International Telecommunication Union and the World Alliance of the United Nations for communications and information technology, development and companies of Microsoft and Cisco, Intel and the Ministry of Communications and Information
Mrs. Mubarak highlighted in her speech the following points:
Different cultures, traditions and customs and the variety of possibilities and legal and institutional frameworks of the States and Governments and the varying capacities and roles of the parties involved represent challenges that require further consultations and dialogues in order to agree on the system of values, ideals and principles that should be preserved in order to protect our coming generations
To realize that the methods of prevention or prohibition, whatever made available or progress, would not be the best alternative or the best way of protection, because supervision is self-control, based on the satisfaction of our youth, and the qualities that they should adhere to.
Participation and communication between children and their parents are the keys to attain this supervision, in the framework of dialogue and understanding to emphasize the meaning of freedom, responsibility and self-control.
The challenge, therefore, is to protect our children by helping them to make the right choice, to develop their ability to distinguish between negative and positive aspects and to distinguish between moral and immoral use of information in communicating with others through the Internet.
The balance is essential in the lives of our children. We, parents, teachers and workers have a shared responsibility to protect them in the social care.
Our meeting today is a message to all concerned and interested people around the world, a message about positive interaction, which is keen on openness in the age of technology, in the same way that preserving the values, privacy and balance, and preserve the ideals and ethics … A message about global society that opens all prospects and doors for dialogue in order to prevail understanding, peace and brotherhood among us.
