Mubarak, Sultan to discuss Arab issues, joint cooperation


Prince Sultan Bin Abdul-Aziz Saudi Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense and Aviation arrived in Egypt Tuesday for talks with President Hosni Mubarak.

Presidential Spokesman Suleiman Awwad said that the Egyptian leadership, government and people welcomed Prince Sultan's first visit to Egypt since he was named the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.

He said that President Mubarak believed that Prince Sultan's visit and consultations over the Arab scene would contribute to consolidating common Arab action at this critical stage and expand the scope of cooperation in all fields.

According to Awwad, Mubarak-Sultan talks will cover the latest developments in Iraq, Palestine, Syria and Lebanon and ongoing consultations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia to contain Al-Hariri assassination crisis.

He said that the agenda of the Saudi Crown Prince's trip to Egypt included probing prospects of enhancing bilateral trade and economic ties and boosting Saudi investments in Egypt.

The Mubarak-Sultan talks will start on Tuesday evening and continue over a dinner banquet that will be hosted by President Mubarak in honor of his distinguished Saudi guest.

During his five-day visit to Egypt, Prince Sultan is to meet with Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif and other senior statesmen for talks that will mainly concentrate on re-invigorating bilateral ties.

The visit of Prince Sultan to Egypt comes at the invitation of President Mubarak.
