Mubarak addresses World Writers on Monday

President Hosni Mubarak stressed the significance of Egyptian writers' contribution to cultural life in the country.

Addressing the opening session of the Egyptian Writers Union conference at the Arab League (AL) headquarters in Cairo, Monday 21, the President said, in a speech read out on his behalf by Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni, that many changes have taken place over the past thirty years, which had their positive impact on the cultural environment in Egypt.

AL Secretary General, Amr Moussa, and culture minister Farouk Hosni inaugurated the conference earlier in the day.

The three-day event, under the theme "Writers and the Future", displays Egyptian writers' production over the past few years.
