President Hosni Mubarak received on Thursday a phone call from Amir Peretz, Israel's new Labour Party leader, on means of pushing forward the Middle East peace process.

During the phone conversation, President Mubarak congratulated Peretz on winning the party leadership.

Mubarak further expressed hope for achieving tangible progress in the ongoing peace process, for establishing an independent Palestinian state.
