Mubarak receives UN envoy

President Hosni Mubarak received Thursday morning the UN Secretary General's envoy to the Middle East Terje Roed-Larsen and his accompanying delegation.

Emerging from the meeting, the UN official said he held fruitful discussions with the President on regional developments.

Egypt and the UN see eye-to-eye on the progress achieved in the Middle East, said the international official, adding that he would present a report to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan on his visit to the Mideast and talks with officials in the region.

Larsen, who visited Cairo several times as part of his mission, said he had always listened to President Mubarak's advice and conveyed it to the UN chief.

Larsen said he would address the UN Security Council on behalf of Annan on the developments in the ME peace process.
