Mubarak inaugurates first Arab Parliament session

President Hosni Mubarak inaugurates Tuesday the first session of the Arab Parliament to be held at the Arab League premises with 88 members from Arab countries attending.
 
A speech by Algerian President Abdul Aziz Bouteflika will be read out by Abdulkader bin Saleh, Speaker of the Algerian parliament.
 
Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad will also address the first session of the Arab parliament in his capacity as president of the host ing country .
 
Heads of international European, African and Asian parliaments will attend the session as well.
The Secretaries of the Islamic Conference Organization, the Arab Cooperation Council and countries with observer status at the Arab League will be represented in the session.
 
Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa described the new Arab Parliament as a step of paramount importance and a major accomplishment.
