New Government to swear in before Mubarak today

Prime Minister designate Dr Ahmed Nazif has wrapped up consultations with nominees for occupying ministerial portfolios in his new government ,in preparation for raising the final formation of the government before President Mubarak who is due to issue a Republican Decree on the final formation of the government which will take the constitutional oath today before the President.

Dr. Magdy Radi, the official cabinet spokesman said the main aspects of the new government formation are represented in contracting the number of ministries and merging some others.

This move will satisfy the philosophy of President Mubarak's letter of assignment to the new government which will primarily focus on going ahead with economic reform programmes, promoting services, confronting the problem of unemployment attracting investments to provide more job opportunities.

The cabinet spokesman said the new cabinet line -up includes the exit of 12 ministers and access of eight new faces who will inject a new blood in the executive work.

He said the implementation of the new government reform programme includes the introduction of new legislations such as social and health insurance laws, developing education and reconsidering social solidarity.

Dr. Radi said the government will give top priority to the issue of labour, confronting unemployment, finding new job opportunities, developing investment attracting procedures and encouraging private sector to establish job generating projects.
