President Hosni Mubarak, in his capacity as Chairman of the National Democratic Party, received yesterday1/9/2007 a report from NDP's Secretary-General Safwat el-Sherif on the second phase of the party's unit elections in the governorates.
The report showed that the number of the members who took part in the elections until last Friday evening hits about half a million.
El-Sherif said that the President called on encouraging and pushing women to assume leading posts as long as they hold the required qualifications.
He added that the President discussed reasons behind postponement of elections in some NDP units where lack of legal quorum was reported in 500 units.
A decision was taken to hold elections in these units after September 10.
