Ethiopia
The Ethiopian government accused Eritrea, on October 25, of gathering more than 15 thousand soldiers in the isolating area between the two countries. The Ethiopian government accused the Islamic courts in Somalia of gathering troops along the borders with Ethiopia on November 2.
 
 Eritrea
 
 Eritrea and the Sudan reopened their borders on November 5. Eritrea warned, on December 2, against the increasing violence in Somalia if the united Nations Peace keeping forces were deployed there.
 
 Algeria
 
 - the Algerian Interior Minster announced on September 17 that new security measures would be applied to follow the terrorist groups in Algeria.
 
 The Algerian authorities arrested the second man in the Islamic Salvation Front, Ali Belherj, on September 23.
 
- President Bu Tafliqah decided on the first of November to postpone the amendment of the constitution and the date of announcing the popular referendum.
 
- President Bu Tafliqah issued a decision on December 15 to form the Supreme Authority for fighting corruption. The Sudan:
 
 The US Foreign Ministry confirmed on the sixth of September that Washington would try to practice diplomatic with the international partners concerned with council resolution No.1706 - President Al – Bashir issued on September 27 three Republican decrees to form a special committee to draw the borders, a committee for re habilitation to those who were harmed by the war in Darfur.

- The Somalese president Abdullah yousef Escaped an assassination attempt in front of the parliament on 18 September.
 
- The Islamic courts Armed men seized the strategic marine town of Kismayo on 24 September.
 
- President Abdullah yousef declared on 12 December that the door of peace talks with the lslamic courts had been completely closed since the courts declared war against the government.

- On the first of October, negotiations were held between the Burundi government and the rebel national liberation forces to put the cease- fire agreement between them, in effect.
 
Chad - Fierce battles broke between the movement forces and the rebels in the East of Chad on the borders with the Sudan on 29 October.
 
 - Chad demanded on November 8 the deployment of united Nations farces along its borders with the Sudan which the Chadian government accused of what it called the exportation of genocide.
 
Cote d' Ivoir: The united Nations decided on 14 October to delay the general elections in Cote d' Ivoir for one year because of the differences between the disputing parties.
 
Mauritania
 
More than one million Mauritani went on the 19th of November to the voting polls to elect the members of the parliament and the Municipal Councils.
 
 The voters gave their votes in the second phase of the legislative elections on December3.
