Human bird flu 22nd fatality in Egypt


A 30-year-old woman died of bird flu on Friday 11/4/2008, bringing the death toll of that virus to 22 since the virus first appeared in Egypt in February 2006.

Walaa Ahmed Abdul-Galil from Al Matariyah area, Cairo, died from the avian influenza Friday, a reliable source at the Ministry of Health said.

On April 2, the 30-year-old woman suffered from respiratory problems after coming into direct contact with infected birds and was admitted to Abassayia Chest Hospital on April 9.

She did not respond to treatment with Tami flu and died on Friday, the source said.
