Mehalabeya

The almonds give a different taste to the regular mehalabeya that we are used to in Egypt, buif you try it you will love it.

Ingredients

1/4 cup Rice ,ground
4 cups Milk
1/4 cup Sugar
3/4 cup Almonds ,blanched and grounded
1 tbsp Rose Water
pinch Salt
Pistachios ,or almonds for garnish

Directions

In a blender mix rice with 1 cup milk and set aside. In a non-stick deep pan heat remaining milk until boiling. Add rice and milk mixture, sugar and salt. Stir with a wooden spoon until bubbling. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes stirring frequently.

Add almonds and stir constantly until smooth. Add rose water then remove from heat and leave to cool. Pour into small serving bowls and refrigerate until serving.
