The Integrated Care Society (ICS) has signed an agreement with the UNICEF organization to establish the development project of Ain Helwan. The project aimed at introducing services for victims of the earthquake of 1992 who had been transferred to new houses in Ain Helwan area.
Services by the project:
Educational services:
• Computer courses for youths to provide them with skills for getting more job opportunities.
• Eliminating illiteracy classes.
• Classes for teaching students of schools in different stages.
• Courses in vocational training for women in food industries, tricot, cutting out, accessories, leather and candle industries.
• Courses in vocational training in plumbing and household appliances maintenance.
Social services:
• A club for children (from 6 to 16) in which they practice their hobbies including drawing, music and reading. In the club, the children will acquire the sound behavioral habits through seminars as well as journeys to different touristic landmarks of Egypt.
• "Community leaders" program aiming at selecting volunteers to be responsible for discussing needs, projects, problems and achievements related to their areas with the management of the project.
• Female club which aims at raising the cultural level of women through seminars and trips.
• Revolving loans for the bread-winner woman to be repaid according to periodical instalments by which they can start small enterprises. Such enterprises contribute to raising the living standard of the family.
Services for children of special needs
The above-mentioned service is considered as a model for facing the issue of handicapping as a part of the community's comprehensive development through acting on the following axes:
1- Protection against handicapping through familiarizing people with causes and factors of handicapping.
2- Early detection through training members of local community and physicians of Ministry of Health.
3- Introducing services of early interference and home qualifying through programs of World Health Organization (WHO).
4- Enlightening families of handicapped children through seminars.
Services of saving children in danger:
This program aims to protect children exposed to social, educational and health dangers through the following points:
1- Discovering the case and preparing a study on it by female social workers and health visitors.
2- The study shall be submitted to a consultative commission in human studies. The commission specifies the method and way of dealing with the case within the following points:
• Sessions for physical and social guidance or enlightening programs.
• Grants for families.
• Listing the children in classes of eliminating illiteracy.
• Enrolling therapeutic programs in case of health danger such as mental handicapping.
