Egypt defeats Angola 2-1, to qualify for Africa Cup of Nation's semis

Egypt qualified on Monday 4/2/2008 for Africa Cup of Nations (ACN) semi-finals after defeating Angola 2-1 in Kumasi.

Hosni Abd Rabou converted a penalty after Angola's Andre handled in the area in the 23rd minute, scoring his fourth goal in the tournament, three of them from the penalty spot.

Only three minutes later, Manchester United's new signing Manucho fired a 30-yard bullet that went past Essam Al-Hadary to equalise for the Palances Negras.

Yet the Pharaohs did not take long to strike back. Amr Zaki pounced with his midriff over Ahmed Fathi's cross from the right side to score the winner for Egypt in the 38th minutes.

Angola was the dominant side in the second half but the Egyptian defenders and midfielders managed to finish the game on the safe side.

Egypt, five-time champions, will play one-time champions Cote d'Ivoire on Thursday in a repeat of the 2008 ACN final in Cairo.

Egypt won the title for the fifth time after defeating the Elephants 4-2 on penalties.
