Egypt defeat Cote d'Ivoire 4-1, qualify for Africa Cup of Nations finals

Egypt's football squad snatched a 4-1 win against Cote D'Ivoire Thursday 7/2/2008 qualifying for Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Midfielder Ahmed Fathi netted on the 12th Cote D'Ivoire minute after his shoot deflected and eluded into the Cote D'Ivoire goal. Striker Amr Zaki boosted Egypt's lead with a header on the 62nd minute.

But Cote D'Ivoire's Abdelkader Keita hit the ball with venomous power into Essam el-Hadari's net, taking the result to 2-1. But Amr Zaki put Egypt once again on the lead with a striking shoot into the bottom corner.

Playmaker Mohamed Abu Treika netted for a fourth time on the 91st minute.

Egypt will play against Cameroon, which defeated host Ghana 1-0, on the finals on Sunday.

President Hosni Mubarak congratulated Egypt's football squad for defeating Ivory Coast and qualifying for Africa Cup of Nations finals.
