President Honsi Mubarak congratulated on Sunday 10/2/2008 Egypt's football squad and Egyptians for lifting the Africa Cup of Nations for a record sixth time.
Earlier on Sunday, the Pharaohs proved their mettle and tamed Indomitable Lions of Cameroon defeating them 1-0.
On this occasion, President Hosni Mubarak received on Sunday 10/2/2008 a phone call from King Abdullah bin Abdel-Aziz of Saudi Arabia to congratulat him.
President Hosni Mubarak also received on Sunday a phone call from his Sudanese counterpart Omar al-Bashir congratulating him on Egypt's win of Africa Cup of Nations.
Meantime, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and sacked Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh congratulated President Mubarak and the people of Egypt on winning the 6th Africa Cup of Nations title.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif sent a cable of congratulations to President Hosni Mubarak after the national team snatched the Africa Cup of Nations trophy.
Shura Council Speaker Safwat el-Sherif and Speaker of the People's Assembly Ahmed Fathi Sorour congratulated President Mubarak and the Egyptian people on Africa Cup of Nations win
As well as, Hassan Saqr, Chairman of Egypt's National Sports Council, congratulated President Hosni Mubarak and the Egyptian people on winning the Africa Cup of Nations title.
In statements to the Egyptian TV from the Ghanaian Capital, Saqr thanked Mubarak for supporting the national squad every step on the way.
The Pharaohs not only won the most prestigious continental trophy and reserved their place at 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup, to be held in South Africa, but denied four-time champions Cameroon the opportunity to equal their record.
The Egyptians captured the prestigious continental trophy in 1957, 1959, 1986, 1998, 2006 and 2008.
The Indomitable Lions won the title in 1984, 1988, 2000 and 2002.
