Higher House of Parliament honored in a special session Sunday 17/2/2008 the national soccer team who won the 2008 African Cup of Nations.

Safwat Al-Sherif handed silver medals to the national soccer team.

This great victory is the result of President Hosni Mubarak's support for sports and sponsorship of promising generations, Shura Council Speaker Sawfat Al-Sherif said in a cable sent to President Mubarak at the end of this special session.

The Pharaohs succeeded in holding the African title for the second consecutive tournament and for six times all over the years, Al-Sherif said.

Footballers defeated the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon 1-0 in the final of the prestigious African tournament in Ghana on February 10.
