Speaker of People's Assembly Dr. Fathi Sorour honoured on 25/2/2008 the National Soccer Team that achieved a great victory by gaining the African Cup of Nations for the year 2008.

Sorour granted memorial medals carrying the assembly name to Hassan Saqr Head of the National Council for Sports and Hassan Shehata. He also granted medals to a number of the national team players who could attend the hounouring ceremony.

Fathi Sorour reiterated that the hounouring of the People's Assembly to the national team is significant of the entire people's hounouring to a segment of their distinguished sons who did their best and could raise Egypt's flag in world sport forums.

Sorour also added that sport achievements gained in recent years signify the remarkable development witnessed by Egypt in all domains, particularly in the field of youth and sports.

On their part, the players voiced their utmost happiness and appreciation for the assembly's honouring, which is considered the responsibility of this generation of players to achieve more championships.
