Egypt and All African GamesThe 9th African Games was held in Algeria during the period of 11-23 July 2007. 9150 athletes representing 52 African countries participated in 27 games.

Contests were held in Algeria the capital, Bomordas, Vebara and El-Balida.

Egypt participated by 560 athletes in 28 games including 22 Olympic Games, 3 non-Olympic games; Karate, Kickboxing and chess and 3 handicapped games; Athletics, Basketball on chairs and Ring ball.

Egypt tops the winners of the previous African Games by 904 medals including 373 gold, 270 silver and 261 bronze medals. Nigeria came second after Egypt then South Africa then Algeria then Tunisia.

Egypt and All African Games

Egypt regained the first rank of all African Games after 16 years since 1991. The Egyptian athletes collected 197 medals including 74 gold medals, 63 silver medals and 60 bronze medals.
