Abul-Gheit received a telephone call on Monday2/11/2009 from his Algerian counterpart Mourad Medelci during which they had talks on regional peace efforts and the Egyptian arrangements for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) which will be hosted by the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh on November 8-9.

Algerian President AbdelAziz Bouteflika is due to attend the meeting at the invitation of President Hosni Mubarak.

Talks between the two ministers also covered Egypt's preparations for hosting a match between the Egyptian and Algerian soccer teams which is to secure a place for one of them in the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.

The two ministers voiced hope that the match would be a festival for Arab sports reflecting the distinguished brotherly relations between the two countries.
