Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif chaired the fifth meeting of the supreme council for urban planning with the attendance of the ministers of defense, culture, economic development, investment, housing and local development as well as the governors of Cairo, Giza and Alexandria.
Cabinet spokesman Magdi Radi said Nazif underlined the importance of applying architectural standards in a move meant to carry out urban development nationwide.
The meeting discussed a plan aimed at developing shanty towns. During the meeting, two reports by the supreme council for urban planning and the fund to develop the shanties were probed.
