Egypt has set a strategy for coping with climate change and an expected dearth of water resources since the water problem surfaced, Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Nasreddin Allam said Tuesday 3/11/2009.
Egypt plays a key role at the regional and international levels in confronting climate change and water shortage challenges, he said at a two-day Egyptian-Dutch water conference organized by the Egyptian-Dutch Consultative Council for Water Management and the Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
He noted that funding water projects is a top priority for the Union for the Mediterranean countries.
He pointed out that the ministerial conference of Mediterranean states held in Jordan last December called for crafting a long-term water strategy and activating a program for the integrated management of water resources.
