Gabali: Educational process suspension responsibility of Higher Committee on H1N1

Health Minister Hatem el-Gabali said on 3/11/2009 that there are no plans to suspend classes, indicating that such a decision is in the power of the higher committee for combating swine flu.

Health Clinics in all governorates and Cairo airport as well as harbors have started to vaccinate pilgrims against the swine flu or H1N1, free of charge.

Meantime, el-Gabali said the number of swine flu infections is expected to increase in the coming stage due to low temperature and the advent of winter season.

He said there are no plans to suspend classes, indicating that such a decision is the power of the higher committee for combating swine flu.

Gabali stressed that pilgrims must maintain vaccination card until their return from pilgrimage.

At the same context, 31 fresh H1N1 or swine flu cases have been confirmed in Egypt, raising to 1,363 the total H1N1 cases, the Health Ministry said Tuesday.

Among the cases are 14 in schools; seven in Cairo, three in Giza, one in Gharbyia, two in Kafr el-Sheikh and one in the Red Sea, according to a statement released by the ministry.

The number of cases detected among university students reached 29.

The cases recovered stand at 1,280, the statement said.
