Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Mohamed Sayed Tantawi met on Wednesday 4/11/2009 with speaker of the Saudi Shura Council Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohamed al-Sheikh and his accompanying delegation as part of his visit to Egypt.

The Grand Imam welcomed the Saudi guest and posted him on the curricula of Al-Azhar which, he said, are characterised by moderation.

Tantawi said Al-Azhar's curricula reject bigotry and extremism, pointing out that the most prestigious Islamic institution is always open to dialogue.

He pointed out to the deep-rooted relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, praising the kingdom's role in providing services for pilgrims.
