Minister of Electricity and Energy Dr Hassan Younis attended Friday the launch of the biggest project for establishing a wind farm for generating electricity in Egypt at Gabal El-Zeit area at 200 megawatt capacity with a total cost amounting to 2.8 billion EGP.
A consultative services contract was signed at costs reaching 30 million EGP, Younis said. The 78-month project is part of the five-year plan 2007-2012, he said.
The electricity sector plan is to have renewable energy contributing to electricity production by 20% by the year 2020, 12% of which from wind energy, he added.
