Egypt's People's Assembly will convene this month to discuss the final account of the 2008-09 budget submitted by the country's Central Auditing Organization.
Finance Minister Youssef Boutros Ghali has said the account shows a rise in revenues by 27.6 percent, reaching 282.5 billion pounds. Tax revenues, he said, amounted to 162.2 billion EGP; about 19 percent up compared to the year before. Up by 34.5 percent, 2008-09 non-tax revenues reached 111.3 billion EGP, Ghali added. The minister was pleased with the unexpected outcome in such turbulent economic times.
