The announcement for the three-week presidential candidate registration was made by head of the High Presidential Elections Commission Anwar el-Assi at a press conference in the State Information Service on Sunday.
Candidacy applications and complaints filed against other candidates will be examined from April 24 to April 26, said Counselor Assi.
Dismissed candidates will be notified on April 27 of the exclusion and its reasons, Assi said.
Excluded candidates can file challenges to the HPEC on April 28 and 29.
The committee will look into those challenges on April 30 and May 1.
The final list of candidates will be announced on May 2, he said, adding it will be published in the official gazette, and Al-Ahram and Al-Akhbar newspapers.
Candidates will choose their election symbols on May 10 and 11, while their electoral campaign will start on May 3 and end on May 23.
Presidential campaigns will be banned on the two election days (May 26 and 27) and the two preceding days (May 24 and 25), he added.
The presidential elections will be held on May 26 and 27 nationwide.
The cast balloting will start from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the two days, said Counselor el-Assi. The results of the polls will be announced no later than June 5.
In case of a runoff, it will be held on June 16 and 17 nationwide, while on June 6-9 for expatriates, Assi said. The results of the runoff will be announced no later that June 26, he added.
