Shajaret ad-Dor

Shagret elDor
                                      The wise ruler

Shajaret ad-Dor's significant role appeared after the death of Sultan Salah ed-Din al-Ayoubi which coincided with the crawling of the crusades to attack the Egyptian forces in Mansoura.

Announcing the Sultan death was enough to melt down the soldiers' spirits, so, Shajaret ad-Dor kept his death a secret, ordered to deliver the corpus to Al-Roda citadel and continued to issue the royal papers signed by the Sultan as if he is still alive.

The wise woman succeeded in managing the country as well as the army on the battle ground. She ordered the Prince Fakhr El-Din to lead the army and asked Toran Sha to succeed his father to the throne. During that period – which accounts for more than three months – Shajared ad-Dor thrived a critical phase through which she led the country efficiently. Under her auspices, the Egyptian forces defeated the crusades and then she handed over the throne to Toran Sha who led the country to victory.
