Egypt, Russia discuss steps to resume direct flights

Minister of Civil Aviation Sherif Fathy, currently on a visit to Moscow, has held several meetings with Russian officials topped by Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov.
Maxim Sokolov, the minister in charge of Egypt-Russian tourism and aviation file, confirmed Russia's support for the constructive steps taken by Egypt in the field of securing airports and developing their infrastructure, the Egyptian Civil Aviation Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday 20/7/2016.
The minister, accompanied by his delegation, held a series of technical talks with the Syrian side on the latest developments with regard to security at the Egyptian airports as well as increasing security efficiency there as a step towards the resumption of flights between Russian and Egyptian cities.
Fathy has further invited the Russian technical team concerned to visit Egypt in order to observe the current situation, a move that was met by the approval of the Russian side that voiced readiness to visit Egypt within the coming few weeks.
