Sherif Osman secures Egypt's 1st gold medal in power-lifting in Rio Paralympics

Power lifter Sherif Osman secured the first gold medal for Egypt in power lifting in the Rio 2016 Paralympics on Friday 9/9/2016.

Breaking his own Paralympics and world records, Osman lifted 211kg in total in the men's -59kg category.

Ali Jawad of Britain got the silver with a lift of 190kg while the bronze was secured by Quanxi Yang of China after he lifted 176kg.

In the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, Osman broke the world record with a lift of 202.5 kg in the -56 kg category.

Osman broke his own world record four times on the way to winning gold in the men’s -54kg at the 2014 IPC Power Lifting World Championships in Dubai, UAE, finishing with an incredible fourth lift of 205kg.
