Egypt starts tourist promotion campaign in Italy

The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism has started a promotion campaign in Italy. The campaign has been organized by the international company JWT in cooperation with the Egyptian tourism office in Rome with a view to boosting Italian tourist influx into Egypt as one of the most important tourist markets worldwide.

 

The move has started at this time in particular after anti-Egypt campaigns in Italian media on the backdrop of the murder of Italian student Jiulio Regeni in Cairo in February had stopped where the image of Egypt has now changed completely to the better and Italian media has started addressing the issue in an unbiased way.

 

The promotion campaign will continue for three months starting from November until January 2017. It will definitely help improve the image of Egypt as a tourist destination and restore Italian tourist flows back to normal. It was launched in the three Italian cities of Milan, Rome and Berisha.


The campaign includes advertisements on screens at 13 Italian international and internal airports, advertising campaign on subway screens in Rome and Milan and a digital campaign at the most prominent Italian news sites such as Repubblica and Messaggero and Libero and Il sole 24, as well as weather sites: Meteo and TGCOM in addition to social media including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, the search engine Google, as well as an advertising campaign on public buses in Rome and Milan.

 

The campaign was launched in a grand ceremony at the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome.

 

Italian tourists who visited Egypt in the past year hit 350,000 in number, down by about 60% compared to 2010 where the number of Italian tourists at that time exceeded one million.
