FM meets with US Senator Jack Reed

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met in Washington on Thursday 01/12/2016 with US Senator Jack Reed, a Rhode Island lawmaker and the senior Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Shoukry and Reed discussed regional challenges in the Middle East and the role of the Egyptian army in promoting stability in the region, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
The foreign minister briefed the US senator on the Egyptian stance on the crises in Libya, Syria, Yemen as well as efforts exerted by Egypt to confront terrorism, the spokesman said.
Reed, for his part, said that the US recognizes the challenges associated with the democratic transition taking place in Egypt.
