Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said on Thursday 20/04/2017 that Egypt does not interfere in the internal affairs of Sudan and supports security and stability in the country.
"We do not conspire against or interfere in the affairs of others and we always support security and stability in Sudan," Shoukry told a joint press conference with his Sudanese counterpart Ibrahim Ghandour after their political talks in Khartoum.
Egypt has absolute trust in the Sudanese leadership. The implementation of programs the two countries agreed upon will support confidence between them, he said.
"We cannot imagine that any harm to Egypt will not affect Sudan and vice versa," the top diplomat said.
On Cairo's support for Juba, Shoukry added that South Sudan is an independent country and a member of international organizations and Egypt's relation with it is based on positive cooperation.
Egypt's support for South Sudan is not targeting any party, especially Sudan, he said. "We are equally keen on the interests of Sudan and South Sudan."
"If South is suffering from any conflict, this will have its effect on the neighboring countries, including Egypt," he added.
