Sisi chairs Supreme Council for Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy meeting

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi chaired on Monday 17/7/2017 the meeting of the Supreme Council for Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy with the attendance of all its members; the Prime Minister, ministers of Defense, Foreign Affairs, Housing, Electricity, environment, Investment and International Cooperation, Commerce and Industry, Finance and Higher Education and Scientific Research, head of General Intelligence and the acting Chairman of Nuclear Power Plants Authority. Minister of Planning, head of Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority, director of Dabaa Nuclear Plant Project also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the strategies and mechanisms of the Nuclear Power Plants Authority were reviewed as well as the latest developments regarding negotiations of establishing and operating the nuclear power plant in Al-Dabaa city in Mersa Matruh governorate, said presidential spokesman Alaa Yousef.
The meeting also discussed ways to develop the peaceful uses of nuclear energy in light of its contribution to provide the energy needed to implement economic and social development plans over the coming decades, the spokesman added.
During the meeting, the President stressed the need to maximize the benefits of the peaceful uses of nuclear energy in the light of its increasing contributions in various fields such as industry, agriculture and medicine, as well as electricity generation. He also stressed the importance of achieving optimum utilization of nuclear plant establishment project to generate electricity in Dabaa, Yousef added
