FM asserts importance of combating illicit trading in cultural items

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Thursday 21/09/2017 asserted that the illicit trading in antiquities should be stopped especially in conflict zones to maintain safety of human heritage.

The minister made the remarks while attending the Ancient Civilizations Forum on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York. He took part in the meeting upon invitation from Chinese and Greek FMs.

The meeting brought together delegations from Italy, India, Bolivia, Iraq, Iran, Mexico, Peru, China and Greece, Abu Zeidsaid.

In his speech, Shoukry called for finding a mechanism to coordinate efforts between countries and organizations in concern to control illicit trading of goods that embody cultural heritage.
