Minister of State for Immigration Nabila Makram on Sunday 1/10/2017 discussed in a meeting with Australian Ambassador in Cairo Neil Hawkins progress on the establishment of an Egyptian-Australian chamber of commerce and an Egyptian - Australian parliamentary friendship association.

The meeting also touched on the outcome of Makram’s recent visit to Australia, where she probed with a number of Australian lawmakers, notably the parliament speaker, ways of fostering bilateral cooperation in the fields of tourism, investment, economic and development projects.

For his part, Hawkins hailed the positive visit of Makram, who reviewed with Australian officials the latest developments in Egypt, economic facilitation and investment opportunities offered by Cairo, in addition to her country’s efforts to combat terrorism.

In a related context, the Australian diplomat commended the role played by the Immigration Ministry to communicate with the Egyptian community in Canberra.
