Egyptian-European business council refuses US decision to move embassy to Jerusalem

Thursday، 07 December 2017 - 12:31 PM

The Egyptian-European Business Council chaired by Mohamed Abou El Enein had announced its refusal Thursday of US decision to move its embassy to Jerusalem.

In a statement released on Thursday, Abou El Enein said since the issuing of Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995, no US president had implemented the act, because of his realization of its gravity and consequences.

The chairman said that Egypt had created a real chance of settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict by achieving the Palestinian reconciliation, but the irresponsible US decision had destroyed the peace process and eroded the trust in any US administration to resolve the dispute.

He communicated with several officials in the European Parliament, the Congress and the Inter-Parliamentary Union, who affirmed their refusal of the US decision, the statement read.

He stressed that Jerusalem is a red line for the Palestinians, Arab, Christians and Muslims due to its religious and historic importance, the statement added.
