Wednesday، 13 December 2017 - 05:24 PM

In the Name of God the Most Gracious Most Merciful

Your Excellencies Heads of State and Government

Chairmen and Representatives of the International and Regional Organizations

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Allow me at the beginning to welcome you in the city of peace Sharm El-Sheikh which hosted the first session of Africa Forum last year. And here we are again continuing for the second year trying to exert our utmost effort to drive the mutual African action in a way that reflects our vision for the future of our continent as foreseen by our peoples.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

To achieve our prospects concerning the future we desire for Africa, it is inevitable to continue the tireless work we have started here in Sharm El Sheikh with deeply entrenched belief and relentless determination on all levels to attract more investments and capital to the African continent .This would create a new reality for Africa, relocate it in the adequate position it deserves on the world economic map and would greatly help in achieving social and economic justice for its peoples; thus opening future horizons for them.

Today, as we are celebrating the inauguration of the second round of Africa 2017 Forum, I would like to stress once again that Egypt cherishes its belonging to Africa and our belief that our future is bound to the future of our sisterly African countries and our great interest in supporting the economic integration among our countries to achieve the objectives of the comprehensive development agenda in Africa 2063.

For its part, Egypt will spare no effort to facilitate the investments of our African brothers in Egypt. It is continuing its efforts to fulfill its commitments towards integration,  in addition to supporting the African Union initiatives and the regional  projects that are targeting development of the infrastructure in Africa and the establishment of networks and roads that promote integration among the African countries like the navigation   line project that will connect Victoria Lake with the Mediterranean and the Cairo-Cape town road that would contribute to the development of trade among the African countries.  .

Simultaneously, we are encouraging the Egyptian investments in Africa especially in the sectors of top priority like construction, infrastructure, energy and mining, agriculture and information and communication technology. I would like to refer to the fact that the Egyptian investments in Africa reached more than billion Dollars last year with a cumulative total of some $ 9 billion, which provided tens of thousands of job opportunities for the youth of the continent.

For that reason, Egypt was keen to convene the second round of Africa 2017 Forum to be a chance for exchange of experience and ideas, and cooperation for developing the mechanisms of investment to maximize benefiting from the continent's potentials and the young manpower that is looking for a better future.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In the light of the efforts exerted to promote investment in Africa, let me expose the latest economic reform program and sustainable development Egypt is currently implementing. We are developing a number of mega national projects and drawing an investment map for all the investment opportunities all over Egypt, in addition to issuing a new investment law and its regulations which provide the investors with more incentives, enhancing the necessary guarantees for the development of the foreign and local investments and encouraging the private sector and its partnership with the public sector. This comes within a package of structural reform in the financial and monetary policies observing at the same time the social protection for the vulnerable  and the neediest groups.

 Ladies and Gentlemen,

Finally, I wish  you all success in the forum activities and I am confident that you will do your best to contribute effectively to developing  mechanisms for  regional integration and promoting  competitiveness of our African markets to attract more investments that could  find their way to the international markets, in addition to supporting its transfer  to the information and knowledge societies and developing the fields of research and innovation.

I confirm that Egypt will continue as usual to support the African issues and to take part   in the development of Africa shoulder to shoulder with our African brothers to achieve our peoples’ interests and prospects for sustainable development.

Long Live Egypt and Long Live all Peoples of Africa

May God's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon you.
