US Vice President Visits Egypt

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Saturday 20/1/2018 US vice President Mike Pence and his accompanying delegation.
President Sisi hailed the strategic relations linking Egypt and the United States, which are based on a long history of joint cooperation, the presidential spokesman said.
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Planning, Administrative Reform and monitoring Hala el-Saeed, Minister of Tourism Rania Al Mashat, and the acting chief of the General Intelligence attended the meeting.
Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Rady said that President Sisi renewed Egypt's unshakable stance towards the Palestinian cause, expressing support for the right of the Palestinian People to have their own independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Rady added the President told the US vice President that the Palestinian Israeli conflict can be settled only through negotiations which are based on the two state solution, stressing that Egypt will spare no effort to support this settlement.
The President said all international parties, which are willing to contribute to achieving this goal should take the measures that could lead to a solution that guarantees the right all the peoples of the region to live in peace and security.
The President indicated that Egypt's stance in this regard stems from history facts and its commitment to support legitimate rights of the Palestinian people stressing the need for US to play its vital role in this respect.
The president stressed the importance of the bilateral ties as a pillar of stability in the Middle East, he added.
Pence renewed US keenness on boosting cooperation with Egypt in the various fields in light of its key role in the Middle East, Rady said.
The United States is determined to push bilateral relations towards greater horizons in the coming period in light of the major challenges facing the region; the US VP was quoted as saying.
The talks dealt with the overall Egyptian-US relations in various aspects, the spokesman said.
President Sisi asserted that Egypt looks forward to strengthening the ties through concrete measures that reflect the priorities of the two sides and the vision of each country on ways to deal with the current challenges, said the presidential spokesman.
The US VP said his country deals with Egypt as an important strategic partner, and is always counting on it in many issues and crises in the region.
He affirmed full support to Egypt in its war against terrorism, measures taken to achieve economic reforms, as well as development efforts.
The US VP also lauded efforts made by Egypt and President Sisi to achieve the Palestinian reconciliation.
President Sisi said Egypt hopes further dialogue and discussion will be held with the United States on the various issues at the bilateral and regional levels, in order to effectively deal with the serious challenges facing the region and contribute to security and stability in the Middle East.
