A committee affiliated to the Ministry of Antiquities has unearthed three wells found carved in rock in Giza’s Abusir area during archaeological excavations.
Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mustafa Waziri said on Thursday that excavations started at the site in mid-January after the committee was provided with information about secret digging in the region between the Japanese mission and the Czech mission sites.
The wells uncovered were used for burial and included a group of wooden coffins, jars and shrouds, he added.
