At Ethiopia's request, Sudan decided to postpone the Renaissance Dam trilateral ministerial meeting, which was scheduled to be held on February 24th and 25th in Khartoum with the participation of foreign and irrigation ministers, and heads of intelligence services from the three countries.
Commenting on the decision, Official MFA Spokesperson Counselor Ahmed Abu Zeid confirmed that the Egyptian Foreign Ministry has indeed received the mentioned notification from the Sudanese side.
The Ministry understands the circumstances that may have pushed Ethiopia to request postponing the meeting and hopes that they pass at the nearest opportunity.
Nevertheless, the Ministry looks forward to the adherence of the timeframe determined by the leaders to settle the existing technical disputes; especially, as the Renaissance Dam issue affects the interests of the peoples of the three nations.
The careful implementation of the leaders' instructions considers the interests of the peoples of the three nations to be the interest of one nation and one people. This requires urgent action to reach solutions that maintain the interests of all.
