Sisi launches 1st stage of new El Alamein city

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi arrived on Thursday 1/3/2018  in the New El Alamein city where he will launch the first stage of the eco-city.

The president will also inaugurate via video conference a number of projects there.

Upon his arrival, the president was received by Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, Defense and Military Production Minister Sedqi Sobhi, as well as other ministers, senior officials and statesmen.

The New El Alamein city falls under the "fourth generation" of new cities. Its infrastructure will be eco-oriented.

It will stretch over an area of 48,000 feddans, at a total cost of two billion pounds.

It is expected to accommodate over 400,000 persons. 

Also, "El Alamein University" will be established in the city.

The New Alamein City features a tourist walkway, a branch of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, two skyscrapers, "Al Masa" Hotel and summer residences for the presidency, cabinet, parliament and embassies.
