The Foreign Ministry has advised Egyptians against fake professional footballer contracts in Thailand.
The Egyptian Embassy in Bangkok has detected some cases where brokers fooled Egyptian youth into traveling to Asian countries, including Thailand, to sign contracts to become professional footballers, said Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Khaled Rizq on Tuesday 6/3/2018.
The brokers usually require big down payments from youth wishing to try their luck with professional football, Rizq said.
The youth also pay for their own tickets, he added.
Rizq said that the brokers fail to honor their commitment to secure professional contracts or even cover the accommodation costs.
The deceived youth are then forced to either return home or stay in Thailand in the hope of finding another job, the diplomat noted.
