Sisi hopes for more cooperation with Eni to discover more oil, gas fields

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has lauded partnership with Italian Eni company, appreciating the company' activities in Egypt and its commitment to abide by the timetable set for developing fields.

In a meeting on Wednesday 7/3/2018 with Chief executive of Eni Claudio Descalzi, the president expressed hope for pursuing partnership with the company to discover more gas fields in Egypt

The president instructed the Ministry of Petroleum to continue intensive cooperation with the Italian company and eliminate all obstacles hindering its activities in Egypt.

Presidential spokesman Bassam Rady, said the meeting, which was attended by Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, Minister of Petroleum Tareq Al Molla and the acting chief of the general intelligence, was part of efforts to follow up the company's activities in Egypt especially after the discovery of Zohr gas field in the Mediterranean.

Molla lauded, in previous statements, Egypt's successful cooperation with Eni, saying Egypt is now on its way to achieve natural gas self-sufficiency by the end of 2018.

Speaking at a session held on the sidelines of the 2nd edition of the Egypt Petroleum Show "EGYPS 2018", the minister said that Egypt’s Zohr field, the largest offshore natural gas field in the Mediterranean, is a turning point in the gas industry in Egypt and at the same time it represents major challenges to the country.
