Egypt is keen to take part effectively in the Sixth Review of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, which will be conducted in June in New York, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Affairs and International Security Ihab Fawzi asserted.
The visit of Vladimir Voronkov, Head of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, comes within the framework of Egypt’s ongoing efforts to strengthen consultation with all international partners, the UN and all relevant international organizations, with the aim of developing the anti-terrorism international system, Fawzi said in a press statement on Wednesday 7/3/2018.
On Tuesday, Voronkov left Cairo, where he met with Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar and senior officials at the defense, foreign and interior ministries, in addition to Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed el Tayyeb.
The meetings addressed means of boosting Egyptian-UN cooperation, especially in the field of terrorism-combat, as well as the possibility for implementing several cooperation projects in this score.
