Minister of Agriculture Abdel Moniem Al Banna inaugurated on Saturday 10/3/2018 the 85th Spring Flowers Exhibition at Orman Garden in Giza.
Banna underlined the importance of the fair at the local and international levels, where flowers, green spaces, ornamental plants, fruits, medicinal and aromatic plants are shown, adding that the exhibition effectively contributes to increasing production and exports of the sector.
The fair is held on a total area of about 29,000 square meters, with an increase of about 25 percent, compared to the last year, said the minister.
Over 20 kinds of rare plants including Agathis and Cedar, are showed in the exhibition this year, he added.
The floral industry is a labor-intensive sector, as planting and exporting one ton of flowers create about 300 direct and indirect jobs, Banna noted.
There is a high foreign demand for Egyptian flowers, he said.
Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Mohamed Abdel Aati, Minister of Trade and Industry Tareq Qabil, Supply Minister Ali Moselhi and Giza Governor Kamal Al Dali attended the inauguration of the exhibition.
