President Sisi’s Speech in Joint Press Conference with Sudanese President

Your Excellency Dear Brother President Omar El-Bashir,

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Allow me first to welcome my brother President El-Bashir and the accompanying Sudanese delegation in their country Egypt and highlight the eternal brotherly relations and bilateral ties that unite the peoples of the Nile Valley, their awareness of the importance of the strategic partnership between both countries and the importance of fostering and entrenching the brotherly relations and maximizing the areas of mutual cooperation in a manner that suits the relations of the two countries, rises to the level of aspirations of both peoples and copes with their mutual historic, social, cultural, political, security and economic relations.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Such a visit of my brother President Omar El-Bashir and the accompanying delegation reflects the positive spirit between both countries and the keenness on fostering consultation and coordination, strengthening the cooperation bonds in various fields and enhancing consultation in issues of mutual interest.

During the brotherly talks with President El-Bashir, we tackled means of realizing and enhancing the mutual interests in light of paying full respect to the internal affairs of each state and mutual action to preserve the national security of each country in a manner that raises the cooperation and coordination to the utmost level, thus reflecting the great importance, which both states pay to their relations.

Moreover, we agreed on the importance of looking forward to vast horizons of cooperation, consultations and co-ordination in different fields and issues of mutual interest as well as seeking the available opportunities and effectuating the joint multi-mechanisms between both countries; among which is the special committee of enhancing trade; the Nile high common technical authority as well as the Nile valley authority for river navigation; the consular committee and military committee as well as the borders outlets committee and the mechanism of political consultations on the level of the two foreign ministers in addition to other various committees that work on removing any obstacles or challenges hindering such brotherly-rooted relationships.

We also agreed on keeping holding such mechanisms on periodical and constant levels in a way that boosts the interests of both countries and tackles any issues or challenges that both countries may face.

We also assured determination of both countries to maintain their cooperation in the fields of energy and electric linkage; in addition to marine, land and air transport and infra-structure projects; as well as benefitting from the consultative and executive experiences available in both countries.  

In the light of the Nile River, which is the main artery for both peoples of the Nile valley, we asserted our intention to faithfully work together and with our brothers in Etheopia in order to reach a partnership in the Nile River for achieving the best benefit for all parties without causing any harm to any party. Also, we decided to sustain working on implementing the tripartite Egyptian-Sudanese-Eutheopian summit’s results, about Renaissance Dam that was held in Addis Ababa in the framework of implementing the agreement on Declaration of principles signed in Khartoum on March23, 2015. 

We also agreed upon starting to prepare for holding the Joint Committee headed by the two presidents this year in Khartoum, where the last committee meeting was held in Cairo in 2016.

Once more, I welcome you as a dear guest in Egypt, assert my great pleasure to meet you today and express my aspiration for more activation of the close cooperation relations in various fields.

Therefore, our bilateral relations will be always a sincere expression of brotherhood, joint future as well as achievement of our peoples’ inerests.
