Foreign Correspondents Continue Presidential Elections Media Coverage Experiencing Complete Freedom

In compliance with the directives of the Chairman of the State Information Service (SIS), Mr Diaa Rashwan, staff of the SIS International operations' room continued their direct communication with resident and visiting foreign correspondents to follow up their media coverage since voting started at 9 AM on the first day of presidential elections.
In this vein, staff of the SIS operations' room communicated with the representatives of 49 media outlets, out of which 32 are accredited resident correspondents representing 8 Asian media outlets, 6 Arab , 8 American and 10 European; communication between SIS operations' room and foreign correspondents continued from 12 PM to 6 PM in Cairo, Giza, Alexandria and Qena governorates. During the aforementioned period, SIS operations' room received 3 complaints and inquiries from resident correspondents, most of which focused on problems related to having access to polling stations, thus representing 6% of the total number of correspondents. All complaints were addressed in coordination with the National Elections Authority and all competent bodies.
On the other hand, SIS operations' room communicated with visiting correspondents representing 17 media outlets who reported no complaints or impediments as regards their media coverage.
SIS operations room works around- the-clock and keeps on all communication channels open with all resident and visiting correspondents who have been officially approved to cover the presidential elections, totaling 680, with the aim of solving all problems that may encounter them during their media coverage, as well as responding to all their inquiries via the hotline 16149.
