President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Saturday 28/04/2018 attended a seminar that is organized by the Armed Forces on the occasion marking Sinai Liberation.

Attending the events also were Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, Minister of Defense Colonel General Sedky Sobhy and several Cabinet ministers and statesmen.

A documentary on Sinai was screened during the seminar.

In the film, Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese said Sinai is the strong passage from where the Holy Family came to Egypt as a country of security.

According to the movie, Sinai re-writes a new history of championships. It pointed out to the 2018 Sinai Comprehensive Operation, carried out by the army and the police to fight terrorism and overcome security challenges.

It also revealed the political leadership in Egypt is keen on re-building Sinai through giant projects in all domains.

Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit greeted the Egyptian leadership, the Armed Forces and the people on the 36th Sinai Liberation anniversary.

Abul Gheit, who was among a diplomatic team assigned to negotiate for the withdrawal of Israel, spoke about the role of the Egyptian diplomacy in achieving the full withdrawal from Sinai.

In his word, Abul Gheit said Russian experts left Egypt at that time before the 1973 war, encouraging the US to open channels of communication.

Negotiations were conducted and lasted for six years and nothing was accomplished, he said, adding that participants spoke about the recovery of Egyptian sovereignty in Sinai, but pointed out to needs of Israeli security without mentioning further details.

Regarding terrorism in Sinai, Abul Gheit said Egypt will succeed under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah el Sisi and the Egyptian people and the Armed Forces in fighting terrorism.

Abul Gheit said he is confident that Sinai will be re-built and developed.

For his part, Presidential Aide for National and Strategic Projects Ibrahim Mahlab said reconstruction teams will continue their work in Sinai to make it an oasis of safety and security in the future.

Mahlab pointed out to efforts exerted to achieve sustainable development in Sinai.

Reconstruction in Sinai is supported by a strong political determination, he said, adding that Sinai development is a national security project which costs about 75 billion pounds and will be implemented by 2022.

Mahlab reviewed the work progress of several desalination stations in Port Said, Ismailia, South Sinai, El Arish and Sheikh Zuweid.

He also noted that there are sanitation projects in three areas of Sinai, namely Beer el Abed, Sheikh Zuweid and el Tor city.

Meanwhile, Mahlab revealed that 4,340 housing units and 2,582 other units are being constructed in East Port Said and North Sinai respectively in addition to 332 Bedouin houses that have been built in central Sinai.

Speaking about medical care in Sinai, the official noted that construction works have been finalized in three hospitals in Beer el Abed, Sheikh Zuweid and Rafah.

He added that a cooperation protocol has been inked between the Ministry of Health and the universities of Cairo, Mansoura, Zagazig and Al Azhar, upon which the universities are to dispatch doctors in all specialties to El Arish and Beer el Abed.
