Model African Union sessions

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi attended on Sunday 13/5/2018 sessions of the Model African Union.

Representatives of 55 African countries are taking part in the event.

The sessions started with speeches, delivered by youths from participating countries, on challenges facing African countries and means to overcome them to secure a promising terror-free world full of job opportunities for youths.

As part of the Model African Union, the AU's General Assembly issued a draft resolution, entitled "challenges facing the African youth and ways to enhance their social involvement", to be adopted the AU Summit.

The draft resolution  stressed  the importance of investing in the African youth as an asset in the sustainable development of the continent.

It urged the member states to engage in AU initiatives to empower the continent's youth at all levels and to implement national plans in this regard.

The gathering commended the distinguished efforts made by the Egyptian state to empower the youth, including the establishment of the national academy for youth training and empowerment.

It also called for a biannual meeting of African youth at the national academy to discuss the most important issues of interest to them on a regular basis and to pass the outcome of those meetings to the African summits.

The participants welcomed Egypt's invitation to host an Arab-African youth summit on the sidelines of the World Youth Forum held in Egypt, and called for making 2019 a year for African youth.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said that he was proud to attend the sessions of the Model African Union.
